The history of our Stadsboerderij goes back for over one hundred years from now. Just like the characteristic farmhouses in the neighborhood that was called Het Nachthok (night hutch). The wheelbarrow farmers brought their cows and sheep there after sunset to stay the night. That’s why it’s called Het Nachthok. The neighborhood still breathes the atmosphere of those historical days.

Animals were Also kept on the fields of the B&B itself. The sizeable, old “barn” was a former cattle barn. Two apartments were formed and redecorated after a big renovation. We called the both apartments Tarwe (wheat) and Rogge (rye), which suit the past excellent. You are able to find an extended explanation about Het Nachthok in one of our apartments. A few hundred meters from the apartments you can find the bus and train station, that makes us easy to reach by public transport. Beneath you can see some of the things you can visit in our beautiful Harderwijk.

Harderwijk has a wide-ranging past. The Hanseatic city of Harderwijk used to trade with Hanseatic cities all over the world. History can be found in our own City Museum. Discovering Harderwijk and its surroundings is challenging and an experience in itself. To reinforce the Hanseatic history, artist Marthe Roling placed a fantastic work on the edge of a harbor mouth where the cog as a Hanse Ship is shown on the turbulent bars. In a walking tour of about one hour, our city guides will tell you the past and present of Harderwijk.
